Resilliance

A friend recently said to me, “I hate the word resilient.” She contends that this narrative serves as a calculated exoneration, effectively granting perpetrators a reprieve while dismissing the systemic harm done to women. But women are “resilient”; they bounce right back. Look at how strong they are. She said she was tired, tired of bouncing back.

Women and Body Image

By the time girls reach seventeen, 78% are unhappy with their bodies. This lack of appreciation and critical view of our bodies is driven by cultural ideals, peer pressure, and social media. Drug and cosmetic companies market mercilessly and make huge profits from the insecurity they spread.

Burning Women Rise

Have you ever felt less than or diminished because of your gender? Has anyone ever harassed you on the street or at work because you are a woman? Have you ever experienced objectification? Have you ever felt your voice didn’t matter and consequently remained quiet to prevent embarrassment or mockery?

woman and Peace

I have always found the history of Mother’s Day, very interesting. It didn’t begin with flowers and brunch. It began as a War Protest. The Grandmothers

Women have often been referred to as the weaker sex, yet look at all we do! From birthing babies and raising them, women are resilient; they are leaders, have voices in government, and build community. We are the glue that holds lives together. Yet, we are not viewed as strong?

Empowered Women

It is said that words are mightier than the sword. I’ve been thinking a lot about the word ‘empower’ and what it means in the life of a woman. What does this word mean to you? Do you feel empowered in your life? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Gandhi of Grain

Spring is a time of awakening, and every spring I am awed by the power of one tiny little seed. Seed is the source of life. Seeds create, recreate, regenerate, and multiply themselves. We plant it in soil, tend it, and watch as it grows into something magical! A plant that produces gorgeous blossoms in a myriad of colors for butterflies, bees, and me, or after blooming gives us magnificent tomatoes, squash, beans, and other delicious food for our table and pantry. I always feel that it is pure magic!
